FD2R vs FN2R
Sunday, July 8th, 2007It’s a tough choice between these 2 cars. Both are civic type R, 1 euro while the other JDM. Being JDM, the japanese mod everything towards performance and leave the car looking just like another civic. The euro civic looks a lot better but lose to the JDM in terms of performance.
What attract me on the JDM is it’s 225bhp engine, Brembo brakes, and price at 100k. What turns me off is the boring interior(especially dashboard), plain exterior which look just like another civic sedan and the fact that the car is still with 4 doors, they didnt bother to reduce the car into a coupe.

Comparing with the Euro civic, it doesnt look very exciting on the outside, but it’s atleast a 2 door hatch. 2 door hatch seems to be the way to go for the past civic type R as EP3 and EK9 are reduced from 4 doors. The interior’s astonishing! Very well done and even the tach meter looks so special. Nice glowing dials fill the dash and controls feel so futuristic. The VSA system which enable individual wheel braking has yet to be tested but is cool to try on track days. The sad part comes later, the car is about 80kg heavier than the JDM, it comes with cheapo brakes, has a 201bhp engine and cost 106k.
So, which will you choose?

Petrol at Johor Bahru
Sunday, May 27th, 2007I still left much Ringgit after the Sepang trip, sitting at home doing nothing. I don’t enter JB often and i’m not keen in shopping there. So i have this idea of driving in just to pump petrol and see for myself how much i’ve actually $aved compared to Spore petrol. So today, with a bit less than 3/4 of petrol in my tank, i went in JB to pump.
After the trip, i made the following break down:
Toll by SG - SGD 1.20
Toll by JB - RM 2.60 = SGD 1.17
Price of petrol - RM 42.10 = SGD 18.92
Amount of petrol pumped - 21.9 litres
Time taken - 102 Minutes
Total distance travelled - 51.5km (from house to JB and back)
My car’s FC - 14.5km/l
To make things simple, i paid SGD $21.29 for 18.35 litres of Petrol. (add up all the expenses and minus off all the distance travelled) So it’s actually $1.16/litre. For the current price of Shell 95 is 1.58/litre, i actually saved $0.42/ litre and $7.07 through this journey. Cool?
